"Circles are emblems of continuity. They are the moon, and my eyes. They convey rhythm and movement, unity, harmony, and femininity." (Melissa Harris)
Harris makes abstract prints, paintings, and sculptures. She experiments with silkscreen printing, monoprinting and lino cutting, as well as working in three dimensions, using paper, paper clay, and board, often intertwining feathers, cocktail sticks, silk thread during the assembly process. Her approach to art-making is rooted in experimentation and exploration, drawing from a sense of curiosity and restlessness, searching to establish her own vocabulary.
