A landscape painter inspired by the ever-changing colour, light and dramatic scenery presented by nature.
Diana Sandetskaya paints the end of the day as the sun sets and nocturnal scenes, often in the context of a suburban landscape. Sandetskaya is interested in the emotive response of a viewer to the same place, depending on the time of day, weather, and season, as well as one’s mood, imagination, narrative and personal experience. Sandetskaya captures what she has seen locally, painting atmospheric, poetic scenes that evoked in her a sense of awe, or which she found to have almost transcendental qualities. She works mainly in oils, painting in a style that references Realism and Romanticism.
Sandetskaya, a self-taught artist based in Mill Hill, North London, joined Studio Fridays in April 2017. Since then, her work has been shown at solo and group exhibitions and art fairs in London and across the UK. More recently Sandetskaya’s work has been selected for a number of prestigious group exhibitions and open international competitions, most notably:
Wales Contemporary in 2022 and 2025; The Women in Art Fair at the Mall Galleries and The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2023, and the Royal Society of British Artists annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London in 2024 and 2025.
