Simon Gazzard is an expressive landscape painter who, in what seems like a magic swish of a brush, is able to capture the whole essence of the heaths, parks and woods near to his North London home.
We, the viewer, become absorbed; we are standing in the landscape with Gazzard, as he points out the things he notices; the people, the colours, the light, the weather, and the distant landmarks as they fade towards the horizon.
In 2021, Gazzard decided to step away from his successful, twenty year, career working as an architect, and follow his life long dream to work as a painter. Since then, he has been working full time on his practice, painting every day, driven to produce the large number of works required for solo and groups shows, which have included: the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, New English Art Club’s Annual Exhibition, ING Discerning Eye, Battersea and Hampstead Affordable Art Fairs, and the Jackson’s Art Prize. He also appeared on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year 2024 and currently has work with the Russell Gallery and Aldeburgh Contemporary Arts.
