Reflections, a perfect metaphor for the reflections of our minds, both in searching outwards and searching within.
The initial idea for Alice Gavin Atashkar’s 2022 body of work, 'Reflections', came from ' simply noticing the ripples and reflections on the surface of local ponds, whilst I was learning about the vital role ponds play in providing aquatic life with rich habitats and biodiversity.'
'Reflections' acknowledges the time Gavin Atashkar spent looking, both upwards at the sky, and downwards, into the water, and yet it also casts the perfect metaphor for the reflections of our minds, both in searching outwards and searching within.
Each of Gavin Atashkar’s acrylic canvases are rich in textured layers of deep blues, greens as well as subtle undertones. The brushstrokes are feathery and light, keeping the surface fluid and moving.
