Simon Gazzard: 3 Artworks & 3 Questions

27 April 2026 in Studio Fridays Artists by Paul Regan

To help you get to know the Studio Fridays artists better, I’ve asked each of them to share three pieces of their work and answer three questions about their practice. Here is……

Simon Gazzard

1. My favourite work from this year is:
Pond no 2
152 x 101cm
Oil on canvas

2. The piece I am working on now is:
I’ve just started a commission of a scene in Highgate Woods.

3. My favourite work ever is:
Parkland Walk
Oil on canvas
76 x 101cm
2025

4. What plans do you have for showing your work in 2026?

I’m going to be at the Hampstead Affordable Art Fair and Crouch End Open Studios Art Trail in May. I’ll be in a show with another two artists at the Aldeburgh Contemporary Arts gallery in the summer and then I’ll be at the Highgate Art Fair in the autumn.

5. What makes your work recognisable?

I think a mixture of the place itself, the feeling of light, the quick brushwork and a few juicy colours.

6. What subjects are you most interested in?

Anything that catches my eye!  Sometimes I don’t even know why I chose to paint something until the work is finished.
