Studio Fridays artist Elise Mendelle gave a very informative talk this lunchtime about her experiences representing herself at art fairs. Here are her Five Top Tips:

1) Set a goal for your fair – this could be sales, meeting new potential customers, gaining confidence, opportunities

2) Give people space to look at and explore your work – don’t immediately assume they want to talk, be patient and wait to see if they want to have a chat

3) Plan your stand in advance – have it all mapped out before you arrive, also make sure to have a back up plan in case you need to switch things up

4) Be recognisable – ensure your work is immediately identified as yours, you’d be surprised by how many people will say I’ve seen you before or I love your work from Instagram

5) Get help and support – whether it’s hanging, promotion, support on the day etc use your friends, family and fellow artists to help you make your fair a success
