To help you get to know the Studio Fridays artists better, back in February I asked each of them to share three pieces of their work and answer three questions about their practice. Here is……
I have been working on this Night Garden painting (Oil on wooden panel, 30 x 30 cm). I think it is finished but I might consider a few finishing touches to it.
It is almost impossible to choose my favourite painting ever… maybe it could be one of the sunsets:
Sunset in the park XXIX
Oil on gesso board
40 x 50 cm
My highlight was exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. I was very grateful to take part in many other wonderful exhibitions in London and across the UK – in Wales, Norfolk, Cotswolds, Bath and Deal in Kent. I was also pleased to have my work highly commended in the Landscape category of the Broadway Arts Festival and winning the 1st prize at my local art society annual exhibition.
I love painting the evening and the night – something special and almost magical happens at this time of the day and I want to capture in my paintings the atmosphere that I feel – the transformation of the light, colours and the mood that it brings.
I have started a new series of works – nocturnal scenes and gardens but this time not in suburban London, but Provence in France.
