19 September 2019 in Events, Exhibitions, Painting by Paul Regan

Studio Fridays artist Alice Gavin Atashkar will be having a solo show, “Everyday joy: Moments of Appreciation. Colour, Creation, Light.” at Gallery 101 in the Salvation Army’s International Headquarters, 101 Queen Victoria St, London EC4V4EH.  22nd October to the 21st November weekdays 8am-4pm, Private View Tues 22nd October 2019 6-8pm Everyone welcome.

Alice says: ‘What brings you everyday joy? As a theme I have been reflecting on this for the last year or so. From walking to the park with my kids, noticing the leaves changing colour, the shape of the trees and the texture of the tree bark. Day trips out in Kew gardens admiring the tropical foilage and flowers, or admiring the beautiful English gardens. More recently, inspired by trips to the rainforests of Costa Rica, I have been using watercolours to explore the shapes and diverse colours of various national parks. In doing so I hope to draw attention to the sheer beauty and diversity already existing in these beautiful spaces, home to thousands of different species of mammals, insects and plants. I hope it inspires us to preserve and protect these precious spaces, encourage more green in our lives and appreciate the importance of everyday actions, such as recycling more and using less plastic’.
