It was a busy summer for Studio Fridays artists.

Five Studio Fridays artists are taking part in Herts Open Studios this month. Look out for Margaret Crutchley, Neeta Popat Kataria, Victoria Perloff, Alice Gavin-Atashkar and Raina Goran if you are planning your own art trail.

Victoria Perloff has also just exhibited her recent flower paintings alongside work by her mother, sculptor Frances Segelman, at the Garrison Chapel exhibition in Chelsea.

Raina Goran recently exhibited her large painting; ‘Sunset over London’, at the RWS Spring exhibition at Bankside gallery, as well as a study of the same image for the RWS Small Work exhibition in May at the RWS Gallery on Whitcomb Street. ‘Battersea’ and ‘Camden Lock’ where shown at the Chelsea Art Society Open and her painting, ‘Moorgate’, was selected for ‘Tim Marlow Selects’ at Bankside Gallery.

In July, Alice Gavin-Atashkar had two pieces selected for ‘Vibrancy’, an exhibition organised by ArtCan at Angel Central and appeared on the front cover of the magazine Art Seen.

Margaret Crutchley and Helen Robinson have taken part in exhibitions together, including the Ayot St Lawrence Art Show and the Hertford Open. Margaret also exhibited at the Kimpton Art show and the Fledglings Art Show at Myddleton House.

Diana Sandetskaya’s painting ‘Parkside’ was selected for this year’s Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, coordinated by the Farshid Moussavi RA. Diana’s painting was hanging in gallery V, curated by Caragh Thuring.

Diana also had several works shown in ‘One Earth’ at the Holt Gallery in Norfolk. The six week group exhibition reflected on the beauty and fragility of our planet through the eyes of several selected artists, and she has had one of her earlier sunset paintings selected for the Broadway Gallery’s open exhibition in Letchworth.

Sara Gregory had two paintings selected for the Society of Women Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries as well as exhibiting three of her ‘Women of A Certain Age’ paintings at the launch of Kate Muir’s book, ‘How to Have a Magnificent Mid Life Crisis’.

Dawn Limbert and Victoria Perloff also showed work at the Society of Women Artists. Dawn has had a solo exhibition with Essex Wildlife Trust at Thameside Discovery Park and was featured in an amazing eight page spread in the American publication, Pastel Journal, which is available online and in print.

Simon Gazzard was invited to exhibit as part of the Russell Gallery’s Summer show, Aldeburgh Contemporary Arts and UCLH Gallery, and has been busy painting a number of commissions.

In May, Caroline Matthews received the fantastic news that she had been elected an Associate Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art. She has also been offering pastel demonstrations to art societies and supported the National Garden Scheme charity as a guest artist.

Melissa Harris had work selected for ‘Undoings’ at Sussex Contemporary and for ‘Paper’ at Nook Gallery. Both exhibitions proved perfect spaces for Melissa to show he three dimensional works.

And finally, Elise Mendelle exhibited in the ‘100/50 (Who’s Counting?)’ exhibition at Unit 1 Gallery, featuring an inspiring selection of works from artists that are often overlooked, ‘demonstrating that true artistic success is a marathon, not a sprint.’
