Karin Friedli

....... splattering and scraping with palette knives, bare fingers, rags and hands

The expressive paintings of Karin Friedli capture the mood and energy of landscape; from invigorating to tranquil, exploring light, weather patterns and the changing seasons, each a unique place at a point in time.

Inspired by landscape artists from the past such as Turner and Constable, as well as contemporary artists such as Anthony Garratt and David Tress, Karin applies marks loosely and economically, splattering and scraping with palette knives, bare fingers, rags, hands and sometimes a paintbrush.

Many of Karin’s works include the use of mixed media, applying acrylic and oil paint, charcoal and pastels, over areas of impasto made from tiling paste, coffee grounds and painting gels.
